Homemade Soap

from $6.50

Our homemade soap is made using a cold process method - just a blend of oils and good old-fashioned lye. Our soap contains coconut oil, which is rich in emollient fat and is a super moisturizing, conditioning oil which is solid at room temperature but easily melts on the skin.  It protects skin from the elements by forming a thin film which is not absorbed.  The coconut oil contributes to the hardness of the soap and is a super cleansing addition that produces big, copious bubbles. Additionally, we do not extract the glycerin (a natural humectant-a substance used to reduce the loss of moisture-which attracts moisture to your skin), so the soap is extremely moisturizing. The soap is available in a variety of fragrances, including our most popular Honey Almond; and White Tea & Ginger; Lavender; Lilac; Lite Citrus; Patchouli; Cool Mint; and Natural (unscented).

Bars are approximately 5-6 oz each.

My daughter Marianne fought dry skin all her life. We saw many doctors and used a ton of lotions, creams and even prescription medicine. For a surprise birthday gift I took her to a weekend class where she learned the basics of lotion making. She returned home and began to experiment, using her own children (who are all blonde or red-haired with very fair skin and who also inherited the dry skin condition) as the "trial" for the lotions she made. Finally, she achieved success, and we continue to make her successful recipe today -- one batch at a time in our kitchen. We add no water or alcohol; only good oils that we have found to work!
